Message from Maggie: I am getting to be a banner specialist. I create them for bachelorettes and showers often. Here are some tips.
What you need:
- Burlap
- I used to buy yards of burlap and cut the flags before pinning them onto a large ribbon. Given the trend is growing, you can buy the burlap banners precut at Target or your local craft store. Note: Most recently I stocked up in Target’s dollar section.
- Newspaper
- Stencils
- Fabric paint
- Paint brushes
- Ribbon
How to:
- Plan a creative saying for the occasion.
- Determine what letters or designs will go on each flag.
- Cover surface with newspaper.
- With paint on your brush, begin stenciling onto the burlap.
- Allow to dry.
- Add ribbons on each end of the banner to add decor but also serve as an easy, but pretty way to hang.
