Message from Maggie: I wanted to share another way to modernize your home. This time looking inward.
As I’ve mentioned, we live in a traditional row house circa 1900 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. One of the first things I did when we moved-in was to update the lighting fixtures. Instantly this took a dated- maybe even medieval feeling room- into the 21st century by giving it a modern feel.

Recommendations:
We put these funky light fixtures from West Elm on our wedding registry and my father in law was kind enough to both buy and install them for us.
While the medieval look wasn’t ours- we did sell the existing fixtures on Craig’s list for a $100 profit.
Cost:
For about $150 a piece, plus a $100 Craig’s List profit, we achieved this look for $200.
