Make: Minimalist Modern Nursery Mobile
Message from Maggie:
I wanted a minimalist and modern mobile for miss Summer and struggled to find the perfect one. Together with my creative mom we fashioned this DIY mobile and I think it fits the nursery just right. We have it hanging above her changing station now but plan to move it above her crib once her days in the bassinet in our room are over.
Materials:
- Inner hoop of an embroidery hoop
- Twine
- 30 wooden beads (Note: I used 3 sizes)
- Non toxic paint (Note: I used 2 colors)
- Glue gun
Instructions:
- Cut inner hoop of an embroidery hoop in half.
- Sand edges of embroidery hoop.
- Criss cross the two pieces of the embroidery hoop and glue together.
- Paint wooden beads (Note: I painted 5 large beads grey, 10 medium beads white, and left the 15 small beads natural).
- Measure and cut 5 pieces of twine from shoulder to tip of finger.
- For each of the 5 pieces of twine, string twine evenly through both holes of large bead before stringing both ends of twine through medium and natural beads and tie off.
- Tie 1 of the beaded strings around the criss cross of the embroidery hoop. Secure with a little glue.
- Tie 4 of the 5 beaded strings 3/4 down the side of each of the embroidery hoop edges. Secure with a little glue.
- Allow to dry.
- Hang from a hook.
